Beach Party
Seaside Celebration
It's a beach party. Because nothing says summer quite the same as the beach. The lapping waves, the sand and the sun all combine to celebrate the season in golden style. Even if you are not close enough to a beach to wiggle your toes in the sand, it is the perfect time to have a beach party. So before the summer ends, get yourself a beach blanket and let’s head for the surf.
Creating a shoreline for city dwellers is not really that hard.
- Buy sand at your local home improvement store and use it on the patio floor to create a beachy look. Use it down the center of the tables. Can't find sand? Use Kosher salt on the table tops.
- You can order sand dollars, starfish, and shells online or get them at many party stores to place in the sand. Use with ribbon and hot glue to make napkin rings.
- Keep the lobster shells you buy for lobster meat to use as decoration.
- Tie large pieces of bright fabric onto bamboo sticks to create a tent. Secure the bamboo poles in buckets of sand to keep them upright. Coordinate the table cloths with the tent fabric. Beach balls and floats create a party atmosphere in bold color.
- Want something a little more soothing, use blue and yellow to recreate sun and surf.
- Set up a water fountain tol provide the soothing sound of lapping waves
- Driftwood and seaglass are also good choices for a beach scene.
And while hamburgers and hotdogs are easy on the grill, a sea inspired menu will really set the mood. What says water more than
Shrimp Toast and
Crab Appetizers? Tropical breezes will be enjoyed along with the
Mango Chicken Salad and
Lobster Rolls. As the sun sets on your day at the beach, wrap things up with an
End of Summer Salad and cool
Blue Ocean Breezes to sip on.
